Slavery never ended. Slavery became unpopular, ugly, and taboo but the results of free labor have always been desirable. The continuance of slavery can be attributed to dogma, pragmatism, genetic and socioeconomic homeostasis. So much effort went into breaking the slaves, breaking the Afrikan cultures, minds, and relationships, that the undoing of slavery requires more than words, marches, and independent actions. Intelligent slaveowners sought longevity and slavery has persisted due to their conniving and self-preservation, instantiating the slave-labor model into the American system; in fact, these two are one in the same.
